Like a cheesesteak that doesn't make you fat For about a decade, "Move Closer to Your World," the booming theme song to Action News in Philadelphia, reminded me that I was up and dressed at seven o'clock. Unless I could pull a fast one on my parents, I would be going to school that day, so the song eventually blossomed into the leitmotif of my childhood misery. Evidently, it's as much a part of Philadelphia as ubiquitous images of Benjamin Franklin. Action News has retained the same theme song (and head anchor) since the 1970s, and not even the London Philharmonic Orchestra's rendition of this song could replace the original -- but maybe that's an indicator of the average Philadelphian's sophistication. When I go home (again!) this weekend, I'll "tune in" to hear the inevitable story of an overturned tractor trailer causing delays on the Blue Route (ba da bum bum bum) with Chopper 6 on the scene reporting live and anxiously wait for the closing credits! It is totally meaningless. Ain't it shame to post rubbish like this? Posted by: KickAssZone | April 6, 2008 12:47 PMIt is one of things I can never understand ... how people can think that way. It's so illogical that it can only be based upon moronity. Posted by: Bob | April 9, 2008 05:52 AM |
